Come to Gumbuya Park - Fun Park Melbourne, Nature's Playground where a unique blend of natural and man made attractions makes for a memorable family outing.

We are open every day except Good Friday and Christmas Day.

Dogs allowed in the park on a leash only. Dogs are not permitted in the wildlife areas. Owners must clean up after their dogs. No nuisance behaviour tolerated.

Dingoes

Gumbuya Park - Fun Park Melbourne is home to two adult dingoes and two pups.

Unlike the domestic dog, dingoes breed only once a year and generally do not bark. They have a more independent temperament than domestic dogs, they are extremely agile and are known to climb trees.

Dingoes do not generally form packs; they more often travel in pairs or small family groups.

The pups are often taken out among the public on Sundays.

Duck Pond

The duck pond of Gumbuya Park - Fun Park Melbourne is home to wild Black Ducks and Wood Ducks and Black Swans.

The wild ducks nest on the island in the middle of the pond and in the springtime can be seen with their ducklings.

On occasion Mountain Ducks visit the pond as well.

When the weather is warm, the kangaroos venture up to the pond to cool down.

Wombats

Wombats grow to about one metre in length and have short legs and tail. They are found in forested, mountainous, and heathland areas of south-eastern Australia and Tasmania.

Cockatoos

Gumbuya Park - Fun Park Melbourne is home to many different varieties of colourful, native Australian birds.

The cockatoos at Gumbuya even know how to talk!

Cockatoos share many features with other parrots including the characteristic curved beak shape. They differ, however in a number of characteristics, including the often spectacular moveable headcrest.

Australian Ponies

Gumbuya Park - Fun Park Melbourne is home to some Australian Ponies, a breed of pony that developed in Australia.

The Australian Pony stands between 11 and 14 hands high. The head is distinctly 'pony', full of show quality, with alert ears and large, dark eyes. The neck is relatively short but well-set and nicely rounded, the shoulders slope well back and the hindquarters are well rounded and proportioned. The tail should be well set on and gaily carried. The chest is deep, the barrel is round. The legs are short and strong, with flat, dense bone.

Emus

The Emu is the largest bird native to Australia. It is also the second-largest bird in the world (by height); the ostrich is the largest.

The soft-feathered flightless birds can reach up to 2m in height.

The Emu is common over most of mainland Australia and, if necessary, can sprint at 50 km/h for some distance at a time.

They are nomadic birds and may travel long distances to find food. They feed on a wide variety of plants and insects.

Kangaroos

The kangaroo is an Australian icon and is featured on the Australian coat of arms and currency.

The large kangaroo enclosure at Gumbuya Park - Fun Park Melbourne is home to over 20 kangaroos from old Adults to baby joeys.

The comfortable hopping speed for a Red Kangaroo is about 20�C25 km/h, but they can reach speeds of up to 70 km/h when required.
